Are we experiencing an offline revolution?

While the digital world and news cycles seem to be at peak insanity levels, Efdot Studio continues to invest in IRL gatherings and local events.

Never forget that artists are always working away in on their next big thing. We still need to gather in person to celebrate craft, discuss life, share ideas, and build bridges.

This newsletter gets an updated format this week, moving closer to that vision.

Recent happenings

Last weekend we hosted an event at the Golden Goose store in NYC. I went in the night before to start painting a mural on the mirror walls.

The next day it flipped. Over 200 people came through, adding their own marks into the wall while screen printing and embroidery ran alongside it.

Ink moving through a luxury retail space felt slightly wrong, which made it exactly right. Truly enjoyed customizing shoes for attendees and hearing why they showed up. The whole thing felt so alive!

​What's new in the studio?

Back in the studio, a few projects in motion.

Two painting commissions landed in Milan through Carlo at Ninfa, someone who I enjoyed working with in the past.

A new wood panel is underway here, starting from a midnight blue base that has not revealed itself yet but will once the second layer hits.

People worth watching

Carlo Borloni — Carlo runs Ninfa. He helped me release the Cities: Italy chapter last year and we grabbed a beer in Milan to celebrate. Wrote a Q&A on Ninfa. Last month he placed two of my paintings with a collector in Italy. He finds people who actually live with the work.

Diid — Diid builds generative art systems. His recent project O America combines traditional landscapes with compression algorithms in a super strange but cool way. We've been collaborating for years. The Cities algo he wrote draws and stacks layers of my drawings in ways I could never do by hand. Cities by Efdot x Diid is still live for a little more time at ef.city.

Divya Kopparapu - What she's building through Bala Wellness in NYC feels rare. Intimate gatherings where art, meditation, and community come together with real intention, curating experiences that stick with you afterward. I'm excited to team up with her for another workshop this weekend...
