Hi Reader, What's the last place you would expect to see an art event? Probably the desert, in the middle of nowhere, Texas. In fact, this is where I just got back from.
In the middle of West Texas lies an artist paradise. Marfa is a small town founded in 1883 that's sprinkled with contemporary art galleries / foundations, public sculptures and new movements taking shape. From high above, the area feels calm, almost desolate. Look closer and youβll see the the actions, reactions and magical wonders taking place during the 5th annual Art Blocks Weekend.
β I first attended Art Blocks Marfa Weekend in 2023 as an open-minded outsider. In my opinion it's THE most inviting event organized by an art platform / collective. There's a shared love for art made with systems and storytelling. Art galleries are punctuated by re-purposed churches, ranch homes and shipping containers. You'd often hear the word "generative" mixed with "hand made" in the same sentence as people discuss what's on display and the future of craft.β The long road to get to Marfa seems to be a filter for anyone who's not super passionate. β 2025 changed everything. A dream came true when our project was selected by ArtBlocks to join their studio. The slower roll out has allowed so many joy-filled moments :)
Last weekend, over 100 people painted together at the artist fair, contributing to one large collaborative piece. Long road trips and conversations in the desert were what I was needing, talking art, life, and the strange joy of being here together. My new dynamic artwork, Desert Grid was on display, and it's now up for blind auction until Tuesday. β Excited to continue making spaces for connection and creativity as we inch toward 2026. Which city will we paint in next? β Till next time,
PS. Keep an eye out for whats to come mid next week. The shop is getting a long overdue update! π |

Hey Reader, One of the things that keeps me going down this wild creative path is knowing that there are other artists fighting the same inner battles as me. It not only makes the journey feel less lonely, but knowing I can make a small difference in artists' lives gives me purpose. On that note, we are back with another group show tonight. It will be full of uplifting art to make you dream big, given this show's theme: AMBITION. Canal Street Show returns tonight, from 7:30 to midnight. For...
